In Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh, a shocking case has emerged as a Muslim man named Arshad along with his family members have been booked for assaulting his wife and giving her triple talaq instantly for praising PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath.
According to the media reports, her husband got angry and threatened her with dire consequences when she praised PM Modi and CM Yogi. Before giving instant triple talaq, he brutally assaulted her. Her in-laws also assaulted her and along with her husband poured hot dal on her face, and attempted to strangulate her.
The victim, identified as Maryam, is a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich. In December last year, she married Arshad, who lives with his family in Ayodhya. The Police filed a case against eight persons including her husband Arshad, mother-in-law Raisha, father-in-law Islam, sister-in-law Kulsum, brother-in-law Faran and Shafaq, and sister-in-law Simran based on Maryam’s complaint.
According to the media reports, she hails from a village. She was impressed by the development work when she visited Ayodhya City and the beautification of Ayodhya Dham, especially ‘Ram Ki Paidi’, Kanak Bhawan, and the ghats of the Saryu River.
However, she shared her thoughts with Arshad and praised PM Modi and CM Yogi for the work, which made her husband angry. Arshad threatened her with dire consequences at home and he even choked her throat with the intention to kill her.
Her husband also brutally assaulted her and the in-laws also joined him in the process, according to the media reports. After the brutal assault, hot dal was poured on her face as she was lying on the floor in a semi-conscious condition.
The victim sustained serious burn injuries during the attack. It is said that the accused husband also abused and made derogatory remarks against CM Yogi and PM Modi. According to the complainant, she was also kicked out of the house and asked to return to her parents’ house in Bahraich.
Maryam said, ‘I am a resident of Mohalla Sarai, Thana Jarwal Road in Bahraich. On December 13, 2023, I was married to Arshad, son of Islam, a resident of Mohalla Delhi Darwaza in Kotwali Nagar, Ayodhya. My father got me married with the consent of both parties and by spending more than his means’.
