A delegation of four key ministers of the Government of India met Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. During this, ways to further the bilateral strategic partnership between the two countries were discussed.
The Finance Ministry said in a statement issued on ‘X’ post that a delegation of four Indian cabinet ministers met President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Singapore. These cabinet ministers included Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Union Railways, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. It is noteworthy that the second India-Singapore Ministerial Round Table Conference was held in Singapore to strengthen India-Singapore relations and enhance bilateral cooperation. Four Union Ministers of India participated in it.
According to the ministry, during their meeting with the President and Prime Minister of Singapore, these leaders discussed promoting India-Singapore strategic partnership by focusing on key areas such as digitalization, green initiatives and skill development.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman praised President Tharman Shanmugaratnam for being a strong supporter of multilateralism through his fundamental contributions to developing far-reaching reforms that can enable governments and institutions to deal with the challenges of the 21st century.
Nirmala Sitharaman expressed her gratitude to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam for his invaluable contribution as a member of the G-20 Expert Group on Strengthening Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) during the G-20 Indian Presidency in the year 2023
