According to the ICC, on being elected president, Jay Shah said, “I am overwhelmed to be elected as ICC President. I am committed to working with the ICC team and our member countries to take global cricket forward. We are standing at a critical juncture where it has become very important to balance the co-existence of multiple formats, promote the adoption of new technology and introduce our flagship events to new global markets. Our goal is to make cricket even more popular. Our effort is to make cricket more popular around the world. The inclusion of cricket in the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 shows that cricket is growing. I believe it will take the sport forward in an unprecedented way.”
