The economic crisis in Himachal Pradesh is deepening as this is the first time in the state that the government employees of the state did not get their salary on the first date.
The number of employees who did not get their salary is two lakh. Along with them, there are also 1.5 lakh pensioners, who have not been given pension. It is being said that the pensioners and employees will have to wait till the fifth date for pension and salary.
The kind of economic situation that has arisen in the state has adversely affected the lives of the employees. The reason behind the deepening economic crisis in the state is the debt burden on the state. The current situation in Himachal Pradesh has a debt burden of about Rs 94 thousand crore.
This is the reason due to which the economic condition of the state has become more weak. Apart from this, the state government is taking new loans to repay the old debt. Employees and pensioners have to pay about Rs 10 thousand crore to the state government. That is, the government has a liability of Rs 10 thousand crore of employees and pensioners.
The government of CM Sukhu of the state is also being criticized. After returning to power in the 2022 elections, many big promises were made by the Congress, which are discussed from time to time in the state. 40 % of the state government’s budget is spent on salary and pension payments. The government uses 20 % of the budget to pay interest and loans.
