After Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh and Ajmer in Rajasthan, now a case of derailment of goods train has come to light in Solapur in Maharashtra. There is Kurduvadi station in Solapur, from where a big cemented stone was seen on the railway track two kilometers away. The loco pilot took caution, due to which the accident was averted.
This cemented stone was seen lying on the railway track near the signal point, about 700 kilometers away from Kurduvadi station of the district. In this case, Senior Section Engineer Kundan Kumar has lodged a complaint against the unknown accused. According to the information received by the Railway Police, a big cemented stone was placed by an unknown person on the railway track towards the east, about 700 meters away from Kurduvadi station.
Meanwhile, loco pilot Riyaz Sheikh and JE Umesh Brother were bringing the tower wagon from Solapur to Kurduvadi for the maintenance of the overhead wires of the electric railway. They stopped the goods train at a distance of about 200 meters when they saw the stone on the track and informed the railway officials about it. The police have registered a case and further investigation has been started.
However, according to the media reports, cement blocks worth about one quintal were found at different places on the railway track in the Ajmer district. It is presumed that this was too a deliberate attempt to derail the goods train.
Cement blocks weighing one quintal were placed on the railway track for about 1 kilometer in Ajmer. The blocks were placed between two places, Saradhna and Bangad Gram station. However, the potential train accident was prevented as the blocks broke and fell apart from the track. Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC) employees, Ravi Bundela and Vishwajit Das have lodged an FIR in the case. According to the FIR, ‘Information was received at 10:36 pm on September 8th that a cement block was placed on the track’, as per the FIR. Rail authorities found that both the blocks had fallen apart.
