The protest of junior doctors continued overnight in front of the health building of West Bengal. Doctors sat in front of Kolkata Police Headquarters Lal Bazar all night and the police agreed to their terms for talks the next day. It is believed that the protest in front of the health building may continue throughout the day on Wednesday as well.
The protest of junior doctors is also getting support from the seniors. The seniors sent thousands of packets of food, cold drinks and dry fruits for the doctors to eat and drink all night. From Wednesday morning itself, the junior doctors have started sloganeering in front of the health building and have said that senior doctors will also join them today in support.
The victim’s family has also shown their support in the protest. The victim’s father said at the protest site, ‘I hope the administration will understand this. You people should be patient, you are protesting under compulsion. We hope that we will get justice’. The victim’s mother was also present in this protest. She said, ‘My children are on the streets today, so I could not stay at home. The Chief Minister is asking people to join the festival, but for me this is my festival’.
The victim’s brother also demanded an answer from the administration, saying, ‘What does the administration want to hide? It will have to answer’. He expressed gratitude to the agitating doctors and said, ‘Thank you all, please stay with us until we get justice’. The victim’s aunt expressed strong anger over Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s statement regarding the RG Kar Medical College incident. She said, ‘The Chief Minister is saying that the family has demanded compensation, can she give any proof of this?’. The main demand of the doctors is that all the culprits of the RG Kar Medical College victim should be identified and strict action should be taken against them.
