Nepal has become the 101st member country of the International Solar Alliance. In a program held in India’s capital New Delhi on Wednesday, Nepal signed an agreement to participate in this alliance. Notab;y, the International Solar Alliance is an inter-governmental organization. It was started by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and France’s former President Francois Hollande.
On Wednesday, Nepal’s Acting Ambassador to India Surendra Thapa signed it at a Foreign Ministry ceremony in New Delhi. Joint Secretary Abhishek Singh, head of the Economic Diplomacy and Multilateral Economic Relations Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, was present at the ceremony. Singh, Joint Secretary of the Indian Foreign Ministry, welcomed Nepal’s participation in the alliance.
Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Nepal is welcome in the alliance under India’s Neighborhood First policy. Surendra Thapa has expressed happiness on participating. Thapa said that it is a matter of good fortune for Nepal to participate in this global effort of Indian Prime Minister Modi.
