Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake an election tour of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Notably, this will be his first election programme in the Union Territory after the announcement of assembly elections. Prime Minister Modi will address a BJP election rally in Doda district, where polling is scheduled for eight assembly seats in three districts of Chenab Valley on September 18.
Polling is also going to be held in parts of Poonch and Rajouri districts in the first phase of the three-phase assembly elections. The Prime Minister’s visit will certainly boost the electoral prospects of the party candidates in the Union Territory. A high alert has already been issued in the entire Chenab Valley region.
The party is contesting all 43 assembly seats in the Jammu division. The BJP had 25 MLAs in the previous Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. Prime Minister Modi is expected to visit the Valley on September 19, when he will address another election rally of the BJP in Srinagar city.
The Jammu and Kashmir elections are being held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. The counting of votes will take place on October 8. Assembly elections are being held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years and this is the first election after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Ganpati Puja at Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud’s residence in New Delhi. Video of PM Modi visiting CJI’s residence went viral on the social media. CJI Chandrachud and his wife Kalpana Das were seen welcoming Modi at their house in the video.
The Prime Minister can be seen performing puja at CJI’s residence in the video and reportedly the prime minister was wearing the traditional Maharashtrian cap in the celebrations at the CJI’s residence. Earlier, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP head Ajit Pawar visited Varsha, the official residence of CM Eknath Shinde to offer prayers to Lord Ganesh. A statement said, ‘Pawar was accompanied by his party colleague Praful Patel’.
