Voting for the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections has started. People are voting in 24 assembly constituencies (16 in Kashmir and 8 in Jammu) in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the Election Commission, till 9 am, 11.11% voting took place in Jammu and Kashmir.

At the same time, PM Modi and Union Home Minister Shah have appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote in a social media post that the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections is starting.
