Voting is presently going on for the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. People are coming out of their homes and heading towards the polling booths. Under the first phase, people are voting in 24 assembly constituencies (16 in Kashmir and 8 in Jammu) of 8 districts in Jammu and Kashmir. 50.65 % voting has been done in the state till 3 pm.

People of Jammu and Kashmir are participating enthusiastically in the festival of democracy. Youth, women and elderly, are reaching the polling booth to vote. The queue of people at the polling booths shows how eager they are to elect a new government. The Election Commission has made special arrangements for the disabled people.
