On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet approved the recommendations of the high-level committee constituted for ‘One Country, One Election’, including several important proposals chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave information about these decisions.
Chandrayaan-4 mission approved
The Union Cabinet has taken several decisions related to space today. The Modi Cabinet has approved the moon mission named Chandrayaan-4. Its objective is to develop and demonstrate technologies to return to Earth after successfully landing on the Moon. Also, through this, samples are to be collected from the Moon and analyzed on Earth.
Venus mission also approved
The Cabinet has approved the mission to Venus, named Venus Orbiter Mission (VOM). Its objective is to conduct scientific exploration, better understand the atmosphere, geology of Venus and collect a large amount of scientific data by investigating its dense atmosphere.
Approval given for station construction in space
The Cabinet approved the construction of our own space station, the Indian Space Station (BAS) for Gaganyaan follow-up missions and scientific research. The BAS will be established with the launch of its first module in 2028.
Way cleared for development of NGLV
The Cabinet approved the development of a new reusable low-cost next-generation launch vehicle (NGLV). This will be an important step towards establishing and operating the Indian Space Station and developing the capability for landing an Indian crew on the Moon by 2040.
