Deendayal Upadhyay, born on September 25, 1916, in Mathura, was a thinker and organizer of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and later became President of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. He introduced the concept of Integral Humanism, presenting India’s eternal ideology in a modern context. His life was dedicated to serving and uplifting the poor and backward classes. Upadhyay entered politics through the RSS in 1937 while in Prayagraj and remained committed to its principles throughout his life. He was one of the founders of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, established in 1951 by Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. His efforts were crucial in strengthening the Jana Sangh’s political influence, and in 1967, he became the party’s president, giving it new direction.
