The President said that since the start of Operation Meghdoot in April 1984, the brave soldiers and officers of the Indian Armed Forces have ensured the security of this area.
They have to face severe weather conditions and even in difficult conditions like heavy snowfall and minus 50 degree temperature, they remain posted on their front with full devotion and vigilance. The President said that they present an extraordinary example of sacrifice and tolerance in the defense of the motherland.

Earlier, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Dr.) BD Mishra welcomed President Draupadi Murmu on her arrival. He accompanied her during the visit to the base camp. The President will be the third President to visit Siachen. Before President Draupadi Murmu, President APJ Abdul Kalam has visited Siachen in 2004. Not only this, President Ram Nath Kovind has also visited here. Ram Nath Kovind came to Siachen in 2018.
