His promise to India’s independence was ignited just at the age of 12 when he witnessed the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. The death of Lala Lajpat Rai affected him very deeply and his fellow revolutionaries to seek revenge. They targeted John P. Saunders, a police officer responsible for Lala’s death, believing mistakenly him to be James A.Scott. Even before their trial on March 24, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were executed in secrecy on March 24.

Quotes of Shaheed Bhagat Singh

‘They may kill me, but they cannot kill my ideas. They can crush my body, but they will not be able to crush my spirit’.

‘I am such a lunatic that I am free even in jail’.

‘Revolution is an inalienable right of mankind. Freedom is an imperishable birth right of all’.

‘I am full of ambition and hope and charm of life. But I can renounce everything at the time of need’.

‘If the deaf have to hear, the sound has to be very loud’.
