On Saturday, at least two terrorists were eliminated by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district under “Operation GUGALDHAR”.
The Army said in a statement, ‘Two terrorists have been eliminated by the security forces in the ongoing Operation GUGALDHAR. War-like stores have been recovered. A search of the area is underway and an operation is in progress’.

This comes following the Indian Army said that the security forces spotted suspicious activity and challenged the terrorists which led to an exchange of fire. The Army added, ‘On 04 Oct 2024, based on intelligence about an infiltration attempt, a joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police was launched at Gugaldhar, Kupwara. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, leading to an exchange of firing with terrorists. Vigilant troops carried out effective fire. The operation is in progress’.

Earlier in the month of June, a terrorist was killed by security forces in the Hiranagar area of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir. This happened after some gunmen opened fire on a house, as confirmed by Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Tuesday. Residents of Saida Sukhal village heard gunshots and saw two to three gunmen in the area. They quickly alerted the authorities. The gunmen fired shots before escaping into the nearby forests.

In the month of July, the Indian Army soldier who sustained injuries during an anti-terror operation in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kupwara district has died.  A terrorist was also killed in the overnight encounter, according to the media reports. The Indian Army had launched an anti-terror operation in joint efforts with the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
