Two jawans of the territorial Army were abducted by terrorists in the forest area of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the media reports, one of the personel managed to flee from the captivity and return.
In response to the incident, the Indian Army, along with Jammu and Kashmir Police, have launched an operation to search for the missing Army jawan.
Earlier on October 5, two terrorists were killed and a large quantity of warlike stores were recovered after an anti-terrorist joint operation was launched in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, according to a statement from the Indian Army.
The joint operation was launched by Army, BSF and Jammu & Kashmir Police in the Keran sector of Kupwara district on October 4.
The official statement read, ‘On October 4, around 8 pm suspicious movement was observed by own security forces from area across the Line of Control and they came close by, vigilant troops challenged, which resulted in infiltrating terrorist opening indiscriminate fire. In the ensuing firefight, two terrorists were neutralized alongside recovery of large quantity of warlike stores. From the recoveries it was evident that terrorists were heavily armed, well trained and equipped’.
It added, ‘This successful intelligence-based operation is yet another example of the synergy amongst intelligence agencies, Indian Army & JKP. Chinar Warriors stand steadfast to defeat the nefarious design of inimical elements to disrupt peace and harmony in Kashmir’.
