On Friday, Indian Air Force’s ‘C 295’ aircraft successfully landed on the runway of Navi Mumbai International Airport. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, MP Sunil Tatkare, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were present on this occasion.
On Friday, Indian Air Force’s ‘C 295’ aircraft landed on the runway after making seven-eight rounds at Navi Mumbai Airport. On this occasion, the aircraft was given a ‘water salute’ and later Sukhoi 30 fighter aircraft gave a flyby salute.
After the ‘C 295’ aircraft, Sukhoi 30 aircraft was also landed on the runway. CIDCO Chairman Sanjay Shirsat said that there are two runways at the airport. Parking arrangements for 350 aircraft have been made simultaneously at four terminals. Metro and bullet train connectivity will be provided to the airport.
This airport has been constructed by CIDCO. Passengers will be able to reach their flight from any of the check-in locations in Terminal 4 building. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, ‘We are now ready to take off. This will be one of the largest airports in the country. We hope that 300 crore passengers will use this airport’. He said the NAINA project is a big boon for Mumbai and the metropolitan region. The Navi Mumbai airport will be operational by March 2025. The greenfield Navi Mumbai International Airport near Mumbai is presently under construction. Officials had earlier said that it is expected to be operational by March next year. The Navi Mumbai airport will be named after Lokneta DB Patil.
