On Saturday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh performed Shastra Puja at Sukna Cantt in Darjeeling, West Bengal on the occasion of Vijayadashami and celebrated the festival with army personnel. He said that we have never attacked any country, because we have no enmity with anyone in our hearts.
We have fought war only when a country has disrespected our integrity and sovereignty. Worshiping weapons is a symbol, which can be used with full force when needed. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reached Sukna Cantt on Friday on a two-day visit. He had to go to a conference of military commanders at a forward location in Gangtok, Sikkim but due to bad weather in Gangtok, he could not reach there, so the Defense Minister gave his address in virtual mode from the military establishment in Sukna.
At night he joined the army’s prestigious ‘Badakhana’ of military officers and had dinner with everyone. Defence Minister celebrated Dussehra festival by performing Shastra Puja Puja at Sukna Cantt in West Bengal, a traditional ceremony of seeking blessings for arms and military personnel. In his address, he said that we all know that today’s festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
When Lord Rama conquered the evil Ravana, it was the victory of humanity. Defence Minister said that we can see that due to the vigilant presence of our armed forces on the borders, there is no possibility of any incident. Despite this, in the current situation, we cannot ignore any possible mischief from the neighbors. Since taking charge of the Ministry of Defence, I have always emphasized that whatever the global scenario, there should be no lack of preparation. We all should always be actively prepared with all options. We should remain firm towards national security, this is what we need.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually dedicated 75 transformational infrastructure projects of BRO in 11 states and union territories to the country to enhance connectivity and strategic readiness, which will pave the way for a more secure nation. He said that I am very happy to dedicate this project to the nation from the holy land of Sikkim. All these 75 projects in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a big symbol of our commitment to strengthen the country’s borders and ensure socio-economic progress of these areas.
He said that if I talk about the entire North East region, there are many such projects in this region, which are proving to be a lifeline for the people here. I also include the historic Sela Tunnel, which is an important project from the point of view of development here. This tunnel is a wonderful example of state-of-the-art technology and engineering.
