Domestic and international flights in the country are constantly receiving bomb threats. On Monday night, once again 30 flights have received bomb threats. According to the media reports, this threat has been given to Indigo, Vistara and Air India flights.
In the last one week, more than 120 planes have received bomb threats. An Indigo spokesperson said that on Monday, four of its flights received security alerts. These include 6E164 flight coming from Mangaluru to Mumbai, 6E 75 flight going from Ahmedabad to Jeddah, 6E67 flight going from Hyderabad to Jeddah and 6E 118 coming from Lucknow to Pune.
He said that after the alert, we worked closely with the concerned authorities and the passengers of these flights were safely disembarked by following standard operating procedures. Vistara and Air India spokespersons confirmed that some flights had received security threats on social media on Monday. We informed the concerned authorities about this and all protocols were strictly followed.
On 21 October itself, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu had said that even though the threats are fake, we cannot take them lightly. We will bring strict laws against it. The government is planning legislative action to deal with bomb threats to airlines, which includes putting the offenders on a no-fly list.
On October 21, bomb threats were received in 10 different flights, including five flights of IndiGo and five flights of Akasa Airlines. Officials said that IndiGo Airlines has received bomb threats on its five international flights – 6E 11, 6E 17, 6E 58, 6E 108 and 6E 184.
IndiGo Airlines said that they are working closely with the authorities and taking all necessary precautions for the safety of passengers. IndiGo flight 6E 17 was flying from Mumbai to Istanbul, while flight 6E 11 was flying from Delhi to Istanbul.
The airline said that its 6E 184 flight from Jodhpur to Delhi was stopped at Indira Gandhi International Airport after the bomb threat. Flight 6E 184 flying from Jodhpur to Delhi received a bomb alert. The plane has landed in Delhi and the customers have disembarked.
