To honor his monumental contributions, the government of India, under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, will commemorate his 150th birth anniversary with a two-year-long nationwide celebration from 2024 to 2026. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary is celebrated as National Unity Day on October 31.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, born on October 31, 1875, in Gujarat, played a crucial role in India’s freedom struggle. He was a key figure in integrating over 500 princely states into the Bharat Union. Patel’s contribution earned him the title of the Iron Man of Bharat. He passed away from a heart attack on December 15, 1950, at Birla House in Mumbai. In 1991, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in Bharat.
