The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha and the Chief Minister of the state, Omar Abdullah have condemned the grenade attack in Srinagar that injured at least 11 innocent civilians. While LG Manoj Sinha has said that the terror outfits must be ‘crushed’ and ‘no stone must be left unturned’, CM Abdullah has said that the ‘security apparatus must do everything possible to end these attacks’.
Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has issued a warning to the terrorists responsible for the recent Srinagar grenade attack, saying that they will have to pay a very heavy price for targeting citizens. The Lieutenant Governor told the senior security officials,”Terrorists targeting our citizens will have to pay a very heavy price for their actions. You have full freedom to crush terror outfits and leave no stone unturned to complete this mission”.
LG directed the security officials to an effective response to punish the terrorists and their associates. The Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed the government’s resolve not to allow terrorist elements to succeed in their nefarious designs. The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also condemned the grenade attack and has said that there can be ‘no justification for targeting innocent civilians.’
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), CM Abdullah said, “The last few days have been dominated by headlines of attacks & encounters in parts of the valley. Today’s news of a grenade attack on innocent shoppers at the ‘Sunday market’ in Srinagar is deeply disturbing. There can be no justification for targeting innocent civilians. The security apparatus must do everything possible to end this spurt of attacks at the earliest so that people can go about their lives without any fear.”
On Sunday, a grenade attack took place near the Radio Kashmir station in Srinagar, leaving at least 11 people injured. The incident, during which a grenade was lobbed at a CRPF bunker located near a crowded flea market, triggered panic across the area.
The attack, which took place near a guarded complex housing All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra near the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), comes a day following security forces eliminated a top Pakistani commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the Khanyar locality of downtown Srinagar.
