Baba Mahakal was decorated with flowers during the Bhasmaarti today at the world famous Jyotirlinga Lord Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. During this, Chandra and Tripund were also placed on Baba Mahakal’s forehead. Thousands of devotees took darshan of this divine form of God.
At the same time, in the sequence of processions in the month of Kartik-Agahan, the first procession of Kartik month will be taken out with great pomp this evening. During this, Avantikanath will ride in a silver palanquin in the form of Manmohan and visit the city to know the condition of his subjects.
Mahakaleshwar temple priest Pandit Mahesh Sharma said that the doors of the temple were opened at 4:00 am on Monday on the Tritiya Tithi of Kartik Shukla Paksha. The priests performed the Abhishek Puja of Baba Mahakal with Panchamrit made of milk, curd, ghee, honey and fruit juice.
Hariom water was offered. After the camphor aarti, Lord Mahakal was decorated in the form of a king with flowers by offering Tripund, Trinetra, Bhang and Chandan. He told that after this, ashes were offered to Baba Mahakal by Mahanirvani Akhara. After offering ashes, camphor aarti was performed by offering dry fruits to Lord Mahakal. Silver crown of Sheshnag, silver Mundmal and Rudraksh garland along with garland of fragrant flowers were offered. Fruits and sweets were offered. Devotees who arrived in large numbers for Bhasma Aarti took blessings of Baba Mahakal. Devotees saw the divine Bhasma Aarti of Baba Mahakal from Nandi Hall and Ganesh Mandapam and benefited from the arrangements of Bhasma Aarti. During this, devotees also proclaimed Jai Shri Mahakal after seeing the form of Baba Mahakal from formless to real.
Here, Ganesh Dhakad, administrator of Mahakaleshwar Temple Committee, said that like the Shravan-Bhadrapada months, the first procession of Lord Mahakal in the month of Kartik will be taken out on Monday at 4 pm after worship in the Sabhamandap. The armed forces contingent will salute Avantikanath at the main gate of the temple. After this, the caravan will leave for the Shipra coast. This time, five processions of Lord Mahakal will be taken out in the month of Kartik-Agahan.
