On Sunday, the United States President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday talked to the Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone and held a discussion about ending the war in Ukraine amongst many other important topics, according to the media reports.
As per the media reports, the two men discussed the aim of peace on the European continent and Trump expressed an interest for further talks to discuss the resolution of Ukraine’s war soon. During the call, which Trump took from his resort in Florida, he suggested Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of Washington’s military presence in Europe.

Following winning the recent presidential elections, Trump has spoken to more than 70 world leaders. Among the firsts were Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel. According to the media reports, one former US official who was familiar with the Vladimir Putin call said that Trump does not want to enter office with a fresh crisis in Ukraine prompted by Russian escalation.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has been informed about the Donald Trump-Vladimir Putin call. Trump is all set to be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025. Following the historic win of Donald Trump in the recent US Polls 2024, PM Modi congratulated him on the win and performance of the Republican Party in the Congressional elections. Both the leaders affirm to work together for World Peace. Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi congratulated Trump and wrote, “Had a great conversation with my friend, President @realDonaldTrump, congratulating him on his spectacular victory. Looking forward to working closely together once again to further strengthen India-US relations across technology, defence, energy, space and several other sectors.”
Earlier, the PM in a post said, Heartiest congratulations my friend @realDonaldTrump on your historic election victory. As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability and prosperity.”
