On Tuesday in the city of Shri Kashi Puradhipati, on the occasion of Dev Uthani (Hari Prabodhini) Ekadashi of the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month, devotees took a holy dip in the holy river Ganga. Lord Hari was worshipped and Lord Shaligram-Tulsi was married with full devotion on the Ganga Ghats.
On Prabodhini Ekadashi, devotees thronged the ancient Dashashwamedh Ghat, Shitla Ghat, Panchganga, Assi Ghat, Bhaisasur Ghat to take a bath in the Ganga amidst the fog and fog since dawn. After bathing, people are worshipping Shri Hari by giving charity. On Hari Prabodhini Ekadashi, Shri Hari, the savior of the animate and inanimate world, also woke up from four months of yogic sleep.
With the awakening of Shri Hari from yogic sleep, auspicious work will also begin. On Ekadashi, people shopped heavily at the temporary sugarcane shops set up at the main intersections and localities of the city. On Ekadashi, Tulsi Vivah will be held with great pomp in the evening at Shrimath situated at Panchganga Ghat. According to the saints associated with the Math, in the evening at dusk, a procession of Lord Shaligram will be taken out from Ganesh Ghat to Shrimath with pomp and show.
Dwar Pooja will be held in the Math under the guidance of Ramanandacharya Swami Ramnareshcharya. Along with worship and prayer, Shaligram-Tulsi marriage will be held as per rituals. Tulsi Vivah will also be held at Tulsi Ghat under the guidance of Mahant Prof. Vishwambhar Nath Mishra of Shri Sankatmochan Temple. It is worth noting that Tulsi Vivah has special significance on Ekadashi Tithi in Kartik month.
It is believed that Tulsi Vivah takes place with the Shaligram incarnation of God. It is believed that by performing Tulsi Vivah, there remains happiness and peace in the house and the blessings of Maa Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu remain. Apart from homes, people follow the tradition of Tulsi Vivah on the Ghats. In the evening, lamps will also be lit by offering water to the Tulsi plant in the houses. This ensures happiness and prosperity in the family. Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu reside in the house.
