The local people of Sanjauli, who were demanding to be made a respondent in the famous mosque case of Sanjauli in Shimla, have got a setback from the court. The case was heard in the District Court of Shimla on Thursday.
The court of Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Sharma has rejected the application of the local people to make them a respondent in the case. In the last hearing, the court had reserved the decision after hearing the arguments on the application of the local people. The court has fixed the next date of hearing in the case on November 18.
Advocate Vishwa Bhushan of Muslim Welfare Society said that the court has rejected the application to make the local people a party in the case. The court believes that there is no justification for the local people to come to the court regarding this matter. He said that in the petition filed by the Muslim Welfare Society, the order of the Municipal Corporation Commissioner Court to demolish the illegal part of the mosque has been challenged.
The Municipal Corporation Commissioner Court has authorized a person to demolish the illegal construction, who is not even an officer of the mosque committee. He said that the court will give its verdict on the maintainability of his petition on November 18. In fact, there has been a huge uproar on the issue of illegal construction in the mosque of Sanjauli. A hearing was held in the Municipal Corporation Court on October 5 regarding illegal construction in this controversial four-storey mosque which is in the headlines.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhupendra Atri, while hearing on the illegal construction of the mosque on October 5, declared three floors of the mosque illegal and ordered the mosque committee to demolish them within two months. In compliance with these orders, the mosque committee has started the work of demolishing the illegal part and the roof of the mosque has been removed.
The next hearing of this case has been scheduled on December 21 in the Municipal Corporation Commissioner Court. The matter of the controversial mosque of Sanjauli has also reached the Himachal Pradesh High Court. In the petition filed by the local people of Sanjauli, High Court Judge Sandeep Sharma has ordered the Municipal Corporation Commissioner to give a verdict within eight weeks. It is worth mentioning that the Sanjauli mosque dispute has been in constant discussion since the month of September.
