On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will celebrate Tribal Pride Day in Jamui, Bihar. On this occasion, PM Modi will launch the 150th birth anniversary year celebrations of ‘Dharti Aaba’ Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Prime Minister Modi will unveil a commemorative coin and postage stamp in honor of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at around 11 am.
He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects worth more than Rs 6,640 crore aimed at the upliftment of tribal communities and improving infrastructure in rural and remote areas of the region. According to the media reports on November 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the griha pravesh of 11,000 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM-Janman) on this occasion.
He will also inaugurate 23 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) launched under PM-Janman and additional 30 MMUs under Dharti Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) to increase access to health services in tribal areas. The Prime Minister will inaugurate 300 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) to promote tribal entrepreneurship and support livelihood creation and 10 Eklavya Model Residential Schools dedicated for tribal students at a cost of about Rs 450 crore.
PM Modi will also inaugurate two Tribal Freedom Fighter Museums at Chhindwara and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and two Tribal Research Institutes at Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) and Gangtok (Sikkim) aimed at documenting and preserving the rich history and heritage of tribal communities. Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone of 500 km of new roads to improve connectivity in tribal areas and 100 Multi-purpose Centres (MPCs) functioning as Community Centres under PM Jan Man.
He will also lay the foundation stone of 25 additional Eklavya Model Residential Schools at a cost of over Rs 1,110 crore, taking forward the commitment to quality education for tribal children. The Prime Minister will also approve various development projects on the occasion, including 25,000 new houses costing about Rs 500 crore under PM Janaman and 1.16 lakh houses costing over Rs 1960 crore under Dharti Aba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), 66 hostels under PM Janaman and 304 hostels costing over Rs 1100 crore under DAJGUA, 50 new Multipurpose Centres, 55 Mobile Medical Units and 65 Anganwadi Centres under PM Janaman, 6 Centres of Competency for elimination of Sickle Cell Anaemia and 330 projects worth about Rs 500 crore for upgradation of Ashram Schools, Hostels, Government Residential Schools under DAJGUA.
