The Indian Navy, along with Gujarat ATS and NCB, has carried out a major operation against drugs in the sea of Porbandar. In this action, 700 kg of drugs being brought by Iranian boat has been seized. After getting information through the radar of the International Maritime Boundary Line, success was achieved in catching the stock of drugs.
During this operation, 8 foreign nationals have been arrested, who claim to be Iranian. According to the Navy, a call from drug smugglers was traced from the radar of the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) late on Thursday evening, through which information was received about the arrival of a consignment of drugs.
The Navy started the operation in coordination with Gujarat ATS and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at night itself. The Indian Navy, along with NCB and Gujarat Police, stopped a suspicious boat, from which about 700 kg of drugs were seized.
These drugs were being brought by Iranian boat. Eight Iranian nationals have been arrested during this coordinated operation. Earlier in March, the Gujarat ATS team arrested 6 Pakistani nationals in an operation near Porbandar and recovered drugs and narcotics worth more than Rs 450 crore from them.
This is the second major successful coordinated anti-narcotics operation carried out by the Navy at sea this year. The Navy is committed to ensuring a safe maritime environment while preventing illegal use of the sea.
