Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to the growing start-up culture among the youth of India, said that in the last 10 years, the culture of risk-taking has increased among the youth due to the innovation and entrepreneurship policies of the government. PM Modi said that earlier starting a company was also considered a risk, but today there are more than 1.25 lakh registered start-ups in India.
The Prime Minister said at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in New Delhi on Saturday that the post-independence governments did not encourage citizens to promote the culture of risk-taking. He said, “Due to this, many generations were spent taking one step forward and one step back. The changes that have come in the country in the last 10 years have given new energy to the culture of risk-taking among the citizens of India”.

“Today our youth is emerging as risk takers in every field. Starting a company was once considered a risk. Till 10 years ago, we hardly heard the name of any startup, today the number of registered startups in the country has increased to more than 1.25 lakh”, said PM Modi. Expressing concern over the lack of widespread media coverage of the first Bodoland Festival held in Delhi on Friday, the Prime Minister said, “Just yesterday I was present with the people of Bodo region in a wonderful program and I am surprised that the Delhi media did not cover it. They have no idea that after five decades, leaving behind bombs, guns and pistols, Bodo youth are celebrating Bodo Sanskriti Mahotsav on the chest of Delhi.”
He called it a very big event in history and said that the lives of these people have changed due to the Bodo Peace Agreement. The Prime Minister said that on this occasion he also saw the report of the 26/11 Mumbai attack in the exhibition. He said, “This was the time when our people were unsafe in their homes and cities due to the terrorist activities of the neighboring country, but now the situation has changed. Now even the terrorists there are not safe in their homes.”
The Prime Minister said that the determination and intelligence of the common citizen of India has continuously shaped the destiny of the country, from overcoming colonial doubts to defeating challenges like emergency, instability and the Covid-19 pandemic. PM Modi said, “When the British were leaving India, it was said that this country will disintegrate, break down. When the emergency was imposed, some people had assumed that now the emergency will remain forever. Some people, some institutions had taken refuge with those who imposed the emergency, but even then the citizens of India stood up.”
He said that when the difficult time of Corona came, the world felt that India would become a burden on them. But the citizens of India showed a strong fight against Corona. Referring to the five elections in 10 years in the 90s, the Prime Minister said that there was so much instability in the country at that time.
PM Modi said that today there is an atmosphere of instability all around the world, while in India people have elected our government for the third time. Targeting the previous governments on vote bank politics, the Prime Minister said that earlier the government was run only to win the next election. This type of politics increased the scope of imbalance and inequality in the country.
