There is still suspense over whether the Champions Trophy, which is to be held in 2025, will be held in Pakistan or not. The reason is that India has told the ICC that if the Champions Trophy is held in Pakistan, it will not participate in the tournament.
Now in this whole matter, PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has once again pleaded. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi said that he has not yet received any response from the ICC regarding BCCI’s refusal to participate in the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan.
He said that we are directly in touch with the ICC regarding organizing the tournament. According to the medis reports, Naqvi was quoted as saying that our stand is clear. We will stick to it. That is, Pakistan is adamant about organizing the tournament.
Naqvi, who is also a minister, has confirmed that Pakistan has sent a letter to the ICC regarding BCCI’s decision not to send its team to Pakistan. We are in direct contact with the ICC regarding organizing the tournament and we are still waiting for a response from them. So that things can be taken forward.
The PCB chief has said that he rules out any possibility of a hybrid model. In the ‘hybrid’ model, all India’s matches can be held at some other place, possibly in the UAE. While the rest of the tournament will be held in Pakistan itself, but the PCB chief has ruled out any possibility of a hybrid model.
This time the Champions Trophy is to be played from 19 February to 9 March. The BCCI had made it clear to the ICC earlier this month that it would not send its team to Pakistan. India had said that it wants its matches to be held in a third country. The ICC has sought clarity from India in this regard to tell what objection it has to playing in Pakistan?
