Delhi’s air has been poisoned for the last several days. For the last several days, the air quality in the state has been declining, but today morning the air quality has improved. On Wednesday morning, the AQI in the national capital was recorded below 500.
Earlier, Delhi’s AQI was being recorded in the category of severe plus. It has come in the severe category. Delhi’s 24-hour overall AQI was recorded at 422 at 6 am. This AQI comes in the severe category of air and pollution has reduced in the state, but still about a dozen out of 38 stations are in the “severe plus” category.
Stations like Rohini, Wazirpur, Anand Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Bawana, Narela, Mundka, Alipur, Jahangir Puri, Sonia Vihar and Ashok Vihar still have a 24-hour average AQI above 450. The AQI in Delhi’s Alipur was recorded at 463, Anand Vihar at 454, Ashok Vihar at 457, Bawana at 457, Mundka at 463, Narela at 453, Okhla Phase-2 at 407 and Punjabi Bagh at 440.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in Delhi is expected to fall to 12.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, which is the lowest temperature of this season. Dense fog can also be seen in Delhi today.
However, on Monday the Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad administration have ordered the suspension of physical classes till Class 12 in all schools due to the deteriorating air quality in Delhi-NCR. As per the order, studies will continue in online mode due to poor air quality.
The decision was announced as Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) was imposed in the Delhi-NCR, which also includes the two western Uttar Pradesh districts. “In view of the above, all schools of the District Gautam Buddh Nagar are directed to adhere to action enlisted under Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan. Accordingly, it is directed that all schools shall discontinue physical classes from Pre-School to Class 12 till November 23 and conduct classes in online mode only,” GB Nagar District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma said in an order.
