The stage is set for a high-stakes political showdown in Maharashtra, as the assembly election results approach. With voting completed on November 20th and the results to be declared today, on November 23rd, all eyes are on the state that houses India’s financial capital, Mumbai. In this election, two powerful political alliances are vying for control. The ruling Mahayuti alliance, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, the breakaway faction of Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde, and the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party are up against the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, which includes the Congress Party, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP.
