The Winter Session of Parliament started on November 25 and will continue till December 20. On Monday, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 11 am on Wednesday after brief proceedings.
The sittings in either House did not take place on Tuesday due to the celebration of Constitution Day on the occasion of which a special event was organised in the Central Hall of the old Parliament building, now known as Samvidhan Sadan.
On the first day of the Parliament session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed the media and urged the MPs to take part in the debates efficiently. The proceedings started at 11 am on Wednesday in both the Houses where the Opposition raised the Adani issue and Manipur violence. On the other hand, the government has listed 16 Bills for consideration, including the Waqf Amendment Bill, to both Houses of the Parliament.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 11 am on Thursday, November 28. This comes within minutes after the Upper House resumed following a brief adjournment today. The Opposition has demanded discussions on a range of issues, including Adani and the Constitution.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi and other MPs paid tributes to first Speaker of Lok Sabha, Ganesh Mavlankar, at old Parliament building, now known as Samvidhan Sadan, on his birth anniversary.
