Patna, 23 December (HS): A pickup crushed 13 people in Dhamdaha of Purnia district in Bihar between 10 and 11 pm on Sunday night. In this accident, three people died on the spot while two died during treatment early this morning. A six-year-old child is also among the dead.
This incident took place in Nagar Panchayat Dhokwa of Dhamdaha police station area.According to the police, all the injured were first admitted to the sub-divisional hospital Dhamdaha, from where all were referred to Purnia. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the administration team also reached the spot. Eight people have been admitted to Purnia GMCH. The deceased include Jyotish Thakur (60), Sanjita Devi (50), Manisha Kumari (13), Akhilesh Muni (13) and Amardeep Kumar (06).
The injured said that there was a dispute between the pickup driver and a biker over giving way. After this, the drunk pickup driver came back and crushed the people.
At the time of this incident, seeing the pickup moving at a high speed, there was chaos on the spot. As soon as the information of the accident was received, the police of Dhamdaha police station reached the spot and sent the bodies of the three people including the innocent for postmortem. After the incident, the driver left the house and fled. The police is investigating the incident.
