Kathmandu, 25 December (HS): After all the efforts made by Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to get an invitation to visit India failed, he is now busy preparing for the visit to Bangladesh and Pakistan. For this, he has met the ambassadors of both the countries separately and asked them to fix the date of the visit.
On Tuesday evening, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kathmandu Abrar Hashmi met Prime Minister Oli at his official residence. During this meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his desire to visit Pakistan. Just five days ago, Bangladesh Ambassador Salahuddin Chaudhary also met Oli, in which he expressed his desire to visit Dhaka.
However, some more information has been given by the Prime Minister’s Secretariat regarding both these meetings. Prime Minister Oli’s meeting with the Bangladesh Ambassador was called a farewell visit. Prime Minister’s Chief Advisor Vishnu Rimal said that the Bangladesh government has decided to send Ambassador Chaudhary to the UN as an ambassador, after which he gave him a farewell visit.
Regarding the meeting held yesterday with Pakistani Ambassador Hashmi, Rimal said that it was a normal courtesy meeting in which talks were held on reactivating SAARC. According to Rimal, the Prime Minister has talked about activating SAARC and making every effort from his side to make the proposed SAARC summit in Pakistan happen as soon as possible. Nepal is currently the chair of SAARC and there is talk of handing over the presidency to Pakistan in the proposed SAARC summit in Pakistan. However, after India’s opposition, the SAARC summit has not been held till now.
Whatever arguments the Prime Minister’s Chief Advisor may give, but the officials of the Bangladesh and Pakistani Embassy have accepted that Prime Minister Oli has expressed his desire to visit their respective countries and the message for this has reached from Islamabad to Dhaka.
Angered at not receiving an invitation from India, Prime Minister Oli is deliberately preparing to go to Islamabad and Dhaka. He knows that at present Delhi’s relations are neither good with Islamabad nor with Dhaka. In such a situation, Oli wants to visit Pakistan and Bangladesh to increase pressure on India.
