Bhubaneswar, 25 December (H.S.): AIIMS Bhubaneswar commemorated “Good Governance Day” today, marking the 100th birth anniversary of the late former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The event paid tribute to the visionary leader and founder of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, who played a crucial role in establishing the national institute and transforming healthcare in Odisha.

In his address, AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas expressed deep respect for Shri Vajpayee’s contributions, emphasising his key role in the institution’s development. Reflecting on the former Prime Minister’s legacy, Dr. Biswas highlighted the significant impact of his vision on healthcare accessibility and quality.

The event featured a commemorative meeting on the AIIMS Bhubaneswar campus, attended by notable figures including Dean (Exams) Dr. Soubhagya Kumar Jena, MS Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida, Deputy Director (Administration) Abhijeet Sarkar, SAO Rasmi Ranjan Sethy, and Dr. Ashok Kumar Jena, alongside faculty members, students, and staff.

As a mark of respect, floral tributes were paid at the statue of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which is installed on campus to honour his foundational role in AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The foundation stone of the institute was laid by Shri Vajpayee on 15 July 2003. AIIMS Bhubaneswar is notable as the second AIIMS established in the country and the only one whose foundation stone was laid by the former Prime Minister himself.

The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of Shri Vajpayee’s lasting contributions to India’s healthcare system and governance. AIIMS Bhubaneswar stands as a testament to his vision of equitable and accessible healthcare for all.
