Islamabad, December 28 (HS): Security forces killed nine terrorists in an encounter at night in North and South Waziristan, a mountainous region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Seven terrorists are feared to be injured. Manra, a mountainous region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, is the biggest stronghold of terrorists. Security forces blew up an important hiding place of terrorists here.
In a report in Dawn newspaper, quoting sources, it was said that this encounter took place in Barho Khel area of Mir Ali Tehsil. Security forces had received intelligence input that about 25 terrorists were hiding. Security forces surrounded this place and challenged them. After this the encounter started. Commander Abdul Haq and Moin are also among the killed terrorists. Weapons and ammunition have been recovered from the spot.
When asked about this encounter, the army’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that an official statement is being prepared. Sources said security forces targeted terrorist hideouts in two attacks in Birmal tehsil of South Waziristan on Thursday night. In the attacks carried out around 10 pm, a hideout (house) of terrorists in Manra area was blown up. Terrorists of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) keep roaming in Manra.
