Shriharikota (Andhra Pradesh), December 31 (H.S.): After the successful launch of Space Docking Experiment (SPADEX) on Monday night, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chief Somnath said that preparations are underway to launch the NVS-02 satellite on Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) in January.
Describing the launch of SPADEX as a milestone, he said that preparations are underway for the 100th launch next year. The NVS-02 satellite will be launched on the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) in January. This mission is one of the missions scheduled for next year.
ISRO chief Somnath said that on May 29, 2023, the GSLV-F12 rocket successfully launched the NVS-01 satellite into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). The NVS-01 satellite has an indigenous atomic clock, which enhances the capabilities of Navigation with Indian Constellation (NAVIC).
The NVS-02 mission is expected to continue this progress, further strengthening the NAVIC system with advanced features.
The ISRO chief also gave information about the Chandrayaan-4 mission, which consists of various modules, which will be launched at different times and integrated into two separate modules. He said that these modules need to reach orbit and then dock in both Earth’s orbit and Moon’s orbit. The final docking process is expected to be completed on January 7.
