Delhi, 11 January (H.S.): Teams from around the world have started arriving in Delhi for the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025. The Kho Kho World Cup is to be held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium from January 13-19.
Teams from Sri Lanka and Peru have arrived and fourteen more teams are scheduled to arrive today.
The Asian contingent is showing remarkable strength, with Iran, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal and South Korea bringing their unique athletic approaches to the tournament. These teams, familiar with the sporting heritage of the region, are expected to provide stiff competition in both the men’s and women’s categories.
Western giants are also making their presence felt. The United States, known for its athletic excellence, has joined European giants Poland, the Netherlands and Germany in this fascinating venture into unfamiliar sports territory. Their arrival has added an exciting dimension to the tournament.
The Southern Hemisphere is well represented with South Africa, New Zealand and Australia joining the fray. Argentina’s participation marks a significant milestone for South American participation in the sport, while England’s presence adds to the prestigious profile of the tournament.
The Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium has been transformed into a spectacular ground for this historic event. Traditional Indian decorative elements blend seamlessly with modern sports infrastructure, creating an atmosphere that honours both the sport’s ancient roots and its modern global appeal.
With 20 men’s teams and 19 women’s teams participating, the tournament promises to be a spectacular display of athleticism, strategy and cultural exchange.
