Bijapur, January 16 (HS): Two CRPF jawans Mirdul Burman and Mohammad Aashiq were seriously injured in a pressure IED blast in Putkel forest under Basaguda police station in Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Bijapur district on Thursday morning. Jawan Mirdul has suffered a serious injury in his left leg while Mohammad Aashiq has suffered an injury in his face.

According to the police, a joint team of CRPF 229 and Cobra had left for area domination from Camp Putkel. During this time, two jawans of Cobra 206 battalion were injured in the blast of pressure IED planted by Naxalites. The injured jawans have been airlifted to Raipur, where they are undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Devendra Nagar.

As soon as the year 2025 started, incidents of IED explosions planted by Naxalites are continuously coming to the fore in the Naxal-affected areas of Bastar division.

On January 13, a 10-year-old girl was seriously injured in Sukma after being hit by an IED. On January 11, a soldier who had gone out for area domination in Bijapur stepped on an IED, due to which a soldier was seriously injured, who was sent to Raipur for treatment by air ambulance.

In the series of incidents of IED explosions and IED recovery in Bastar division in the year 2025 – On January 1, security personnel recovered 10 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Naxalites from various places in Bijapur district.

A team of the 168th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force and police recovered eight IEDs, each weighing 1 kg, planted under the road near a temple at Timapur under Basaguda police station limits during a Road Opening Party (ROP) exercise. On January 6, Naxalites blew up a vehicle in Bijapur district, killing eight District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel and a civilian driver.

On January 6, the CRPF recovered and defused an IED weighing around 20-22 kg in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. About seven hours earlier, Naxalites had blown up a security vehicle 50 km away in the district with three times the amount of explosives. A day after eight policemen and a civilian driver were killed in a blast in Bijapur on January 7, security forces recovered a 10-kg IED planted by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district. A team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and district police found the IED near Belpocha village on Konta-Gollapally road.

On January 9, security forces recovered two IEDs planted by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. The IEDs were detected from Murdanda track in the limits of Awapalli police station when a joint team of 229th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local police was on Road Opening Party (ROP) and demining duty.

On January 11, four IEDs planted by Naxalites to target security forces were recovered in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh.

On January 12, two policemen were injured in an IED blast by Naxalites in Bijapur district. The IEDs were triggered by the District Reserve Guard and Katru police station personnel who were out on area domination in the jungles of Jagur village near Jangla at around 5 pm.

As soon as the year 2025 begins, there are reports of IED explosions and IED recoveries almost every day in the Naxal-affected areas of Bastar division.
