Delhi, 17 January (H.S.): Roshan Maurya of Varanasi has won bronze medal in the All India University Karate Championship being held at Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana. This tournament, which started on 15 January in Dr. Mangal Sen Multipurpose Hall located in MDU’s sports complex, will conclude on 18 January.
Roshan is a student of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth and is representing this university in the tournament. He has won bronze medal in the 60 kg individual kumite category in the All India University Karate Championship.
Team coach Sensei Arvind Kumar Yadav said that Roshan Maurya defeated Omkar Mapari, a player of Sri Balaji University, Pune in the first match. In the second match, he defeated Aditya Kale, a player of Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, and secured a place in the semi-finals.
However, Roshan lost to Rishabh, a player of Chandigarh University, in the semi-finals, due to which he had to be satisfied with the bronze medal. The manager of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth team is Dr. Rajesh Prasad and the in-charge is Dr. Amarendra Singh.
