Guwahati, 17 January (HS): MP Dilip Saikia has appointed as the new President of Assam Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party he has elected uncontested for the post. The newly elected president Dilip Saikia is the MP from Mangaldoi-Udalguri Lok Sabha constituency.
National organizational in-charge Gajendra Singh Shekhawat declared MP Dilip Saikia as Assam state BJP president in a program organized at the BJP headquarters in Basishtha, Guwahati on Friday. On this occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, senior BJP leaders of Assam Narayan Barkatki, Vijaya Chakraborty, Siddharth Bhattacharya, party’s central leader MP Sambit Patra, state organizational secretary Raju, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa including several leaders and workers of BJP. Outgoing president Bhavesh Kalita welcomed the newly elected president Dilip Saikia on the stage.
It is noteworthy that MP Dilip Saikia filed his nomination on Thursday for the post of new president of Assam state BJP unit. No other worker filed nomination against Dilip Saikia for the post of president, his election as president was confirmed yesterday itself.
