Delhi, 17 January (H.S.): The Indian Navy on Friday celebrated the ‘Year of Naval Civilians’ program at Dr. DS Kothari Auditorium of DRDO Bhawan. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh attended as the chief guest and the ceremony showcased the remarkable achievements and contributions of ‘Naval Civilians’. An exhibition of photographs and paintings highlighting the work, life and stories of naval civilians presented a glimpse of their important roles and achievements.
At the inaugural ceremony, the Defense Minister said that celebrating 2024 as the ‘Naval Civilian Year’ was a unique initiative, for which the role of the Indian Navy is commendable.
“In many important organizations of the Navy, such as Command Headquarters, Dockyard, Material Organization, Naval Ordnance Depot, Training Establishment etc., it is our citizens who lay the foundation of the stable infrastructure of the Navy. We see ships in the sea, aircraft carriers. Rajnath Singh said that we see ships in the sea, aircraft carriers. All these things are visible in front of us, but what we do not see is the hard work of our countless engineers and workers. These people always work behind the scenes and provide strength to our armed forces. ”
Rajnath Singh said,’ if the Indian Navy is progressing a lot in the field of innovation today, then the role of civilians in research and development work is important for it. Whether you are in uniform or without uniform, there is no big difference.
Therefore, in the broad perspective of national service, every responsible citizen is a soldier without uniform. With time, the complexities of our forces are increasing. This is happening due to the defense-security environment being constantly tense around the world. If we assess this entire decade from the defense and security perspective, then after almost half a decade has passed, we can say that this has been a kind of unstable decade. We are seeing many conflicts and wars in different areas all over the world. ”
The Defence Minister said ,” we have to enhance our critical capability and focus on strengthening both our offensive and defensive responses in the coming times. Planning is very important in all this and in this planning process, all stakeholders should be consulted by taking a consultative approach. Our naval forces play a very important role in this planning process. Most people know India as a subcontinent due to its vast land borders, but if we pay a little attention, India is no less important as an island nation. India’s economic prosperity is linked to the maritime security of this country. For this, it is necessary to protect our territorial waters, keep our maritime highways safe by ensuring freedom of navigation.”
