Bhubaneswar, 21 January (H.S.): The state continues its paddy procurement drive for the current Kharif season, with 17,49,987 farmers across 30 districts registered to participate in the process. The procurement began in Bargarh district on November 20 and will continue until March 31. Bargarh leads with the highest number of registered farmers at 1,55,617, followed by significant registrations from Balasore, Ganjam, and Kalahandi districts.
After thorough field-level verification of applications, tokens are being issued to farmers for the procurement process. A three-tier verification of farmers’ accounts is also being conducted to ensure transparency and accuracy. Measures are in place to include all eligible farmers and to credit their dues directly to their accounts within 48 hours of procurement.
Currently, paddy procurement is underway in 3,903 mandis spread across the state’s 30 districts. Necessary facilities have been arranged at these mandis for the convenience of farmers. District Collectors are actively addressing complaints related to the procurement process, ensuring timely resolution.
