Bhubaneswar, 22 January (H.S.): The historic Barabati Fort in Cuttack, the birthplace of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, will host Parakram Diwas celebrations from January 23 to January 25. Marking Netaji’s 128th birth anniversary, a three-day multi-faceted event will be inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Following the decision of the Central Government, the first Parakram Diwas in the country was celebrated at Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata. In 2022, a hologram statue of Netaji was unveiled at India Gate, New Delhi. In 2023, 21 islands in the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago were named after 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees. In 2024, the historic Red Fort in New Delhi hosted the event, inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
Continuing this tradition, this year, the Central Culture Department has organized the National Parakram Diwas celebration at Netaji’s birthplace, Cuttack. During this three-day program, the Odisha Chief Minister and other dignitaries will pay floral tributes at Netaji’s statue in the museum and hoist the national flag in the museum premises. Later, the national-level Parakram Diwas will be observed at Barabati Fort.
The program will commence with a video message from the Prime Minister. Exhibitions of various books, photographs, letters, and documents related to Netaji will be organized. Displays showcasing details about Netaji’s life and his role in the freedom struggle will also be featured. Additionally, art camps and sculpture-making sessions will be arranged. Cultural programs and film screenings related to Netaji and Odisha will also be part of the celebration.
