New Delhi, January 22 (HS): President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed grief over the loss of lives in the bus accident in Uttara Kannada, Karnataka. The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the families of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
The President wrote on Twitter, “I am saddened by the unfortunate deaths in a road accident in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. I express my condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi as saying, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the accident in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. The local administration is assisting the affected people. The families of each deceased will be given an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF. The injured will be given Rs 50,000.”
A truck crashed after colliding with an unknown vehicle in Yellapur taluka of Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka on Wednesday morning. 10 people died and 15 others were injured in the accident.
