In Maharashtra’s Bhandara district, a massive fire has been reported; the explosion occurred at an ordnance factory. A rescue operation is underway and eight people have died in the tragic incident; seven others are injured. According to the PRO Defence Nagpur, there has been an explosion at an ordnance factory in Bhandara today morning.
The rescue & medical teams are deployed for survivors and rescue is underway. As per Sanjay Kolte, Collector Bhandara, following the blast in ordnance factory in Bhandara’s Jawahar Nagar, firefighters and ambulances have been dispatched to the spot and a rescue operation is currently underway. Due to the blast, a roof also collapsed with several people trapped beneath it.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said at a public event, “A big blast has occurred in the Ordnance Factory in Bhandara. In the incident, 8 people have died and 7 people are injured, as per preliminary information.” The Union Minister paid respects to those who lost their lives in the blast in Ordnance Factory in Bhandara by observing a one-minute silence. Following the blast, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis has issued a statement on his social media account on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter).
The post reads, “There are reports that 13 to 14 workers were trapped after the roof collapsed in an ordnance factory explosion in Bhandara district. Five of them have been safely evacuated. The District Collector and Superintendent of Police are at the scene and all kinds of assistance are being provided. SDRF and Nagpur Municipal Corporation teams have also been called for rescue operations and they will reach soon.
The district administration is involved in the rescue operations in coordination with the defense forces. Teams have also been kept ready for medical assistance.According to the preliminary information received so far, unfortunately one worker has died in this incident. I pay my heartfelt tributes to him. We share the grief of his family. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
