Delhi, 25 January (H.S.): The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has announced that they are all set to launch the GSLV-F15 mission, marking their 100th launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on January 29. The GSLV-F15 rocket, equipped with an indigenous cryogenic stage, will be launching the NVS-02 satellite into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit. This milestone launch is scheduled for 06:23 hrs IST and will be broadcasted on social media platform X.

The first big rocket to take off from Sriharikota was the Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV) in 1979 and now, almost 46 years later, ISRO is ready to hit a century with this launch. The GSLV-F15 is the 17th flight of the GSLV rocket and the 11th flight featuring an indigenous cryogenic stage. The NVS-02 satellite is part of the second-generation satellites for India’s own navigation system, Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC). This system is designed to provide accurate Position, Velocity and Timing (PVT) services to users in India and beyond. The new NVS-02 satellite comes with improved features, including support for the L1 frequency band, which will enhance its services and reliability.

It will have a lift-off mass of 2,250 kg and will be positioned at 111.75 degree E, replacing the IRNSS-1E satellite. With NavIC’s Standard Positioning Service (SPS), users can expect a position accuracy of better than 20 meters and a timing accuracy of better than 40 nanoseconds over the service area. This launch marks another achievement for ISRO and showcases India’s growing capabilities in the field of space exploration.
