Sonitpur (Assam), 25 January (HS): On the eve of Republic Day, Assam Police recovered a large quantity of explosives from Sonitpur district this morning. Police sources reported that during a search operation in Khabala village under Hugrajuli, within the jurisdiction of Dhekiajuli Police Station, five hand grenades, three detonators, and materials used for making bombs were unearthed from a rubber plantation.
The police have taken the explosives into custody and transported them to the police station. However, no arrests have been made in connection with the recovery so far. It remains unclear who hid the explosives in the rubber plantation and for what purpose.
