Aizawl, 27 January (HS): On the occasion of India’s 76th Republic Day, the 20th Battalion of Assam Rifles created history by hoisting the highest national flag in South Mizoram. The flag was hoisted at a height of 3,908 feet above sea level, on a 50 feet long pole.
The flag was dedicated to the martyred soldiers of Assam Rifles and freedom fighters of Mizoram. Local dignitaries, families of freedom fighters, ex-servicemen, school children and battalion personnel attended the event.
During the event, Assam Rifles felicitated the families of freedom fighters of Mizoram and remembered their sacrifices. The event reflects their spirit of “Friends of the Hill People” and deep connection with local communities.
