On Monday, the Aam Aadmi Party released its party manifesto promising ’15 guarantees’. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal launched the manifesto and made the promises in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena. Kejriwal stated that if BJP is voted to power, monthly burden of people will increase by Rs 25,000. The AAP and the BJP are engaged in a tight battle in the Delhi elections. Voting in Delhi is set to be held on February 5 and results will be announced on February 8.
Employment for youth: A commitment to create job opportunities for young people in Delhi.
-Mahila Samman Yojana: Under this scheme, women will receive Rs 2,100 per month directly into their bank accounts. This will be a Cabinet decision if AAP returns to power.
-Sanjeevni Yojana: This initiative will provide free medical treatment for senior citizens at both government and private hospitals in Delhi, with all costs covered by the government.
-Water bills: A guarantee of no water bills for residents of Delhi.
-Clean Yamuna: A pledge to provide clean drinking water, a cleaner Yamuna River, and improved road infrastructure in Delhi within the next five years. “We have the funds and a plan for this,” Kejriwal said.
-Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship Yojana: This scheme will cover all educational expenses for Scheduled Caste (SC) students, even if they pursue studies abroad at foreign universities, with funding provided by the state government.
-Free bus travel for students: A guarantee of free bus rides for students and a 50% concession in metro fares.
-Support for religious leaders: All pujaris (temple priests) and Gurudwara ‘granthis’ will receive Rs 18,000 per month.
-Tenants’ rights: A new system will be implemented allowing tenants to access free electricity and water.
-Sewer maintenance: A commitment to repair clogged sewers and replace old sewer lines.
-Ration cards for the poor: The introduction of ration cards for all eligible families, ensuring subsidised food for the underprivileged.
-Support for taxi, auto, and E-rickshaw drivers: A package that includes Rs 1 lakh for the marriage of drivers’ daughters, free education for their children, Rs 10 lakh life insurance, and Rs 5 lakh health insurance.
-Private security for RWAs: Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) will be allowed to hire private security guards, with costs covered by the Delhi government.
-The continuation of six ongoing initiatives, including free education, mohalla clinics, free bus rides for women, and subsidies for water and electricity.
